presented in collaboration with
Kira Hamman

Hamman teaches mathematics at Penn State Mont Alto. She is a set theorist by training, but her recent interests are more pedagogical in nature. In particular, she is interested in the intersection of mathematics and social justice issues and in encouraging the development of quantitative literacy courses as an alternative to the traditional algebra sequence. Her Mathematics and Democracy course is one such alternative. Hamman has also spent a great deal of time working on the mathematical education of teachers and on the mathematics of sustainability.
